Dog Treat Training

Treat training is one of many ways to train your new puppy by giving him something he wants after doing what you want him to do. It's a great way to correct behavior problems, learn basic things like sit, stay, roll over, and it can also help in the process of potty training. It's a simple process that only takes consistency and patience. Before you know it your dog will be doing what you want it to.

This is a simple example of training a dog to sit:

• Put some dog jerky in a bag in your pocket
• When you want the dog to sit, hold the treat above their head and say "sit."
• Hold the treat so the dog has to sit on the ground to see it.
• Give the dog the treat and praise it for a "good sit."
• Repeat a few times and then repeat the next day.

Continue to reinforce the behavior by doing things like holding their treat dish above their head before dinner and telling them to "sit" before you give them their food. By doing this, you'll have a well-behaved dog in no time.
